My introduction to the world of travel consulting came in 1999, when I began as an intern with Kahala Travel. After graduation I began working here full time, and I’ve enjoyed every day of it. Clients tell me they appreciate my detail-oriented approach. The nature of travel is such that you can’t predict everything that’s going to happen, but I do my best to trouble-shoot, creating a plan of action so clients don’t have to worry.
Our office encourages us to update our product knowledge firsthand. I work with a fantastic group of seasoned travel consultants, and we’re constantly sharing notes from our trips, enhancing our knowledge even further. One place I frequently visit is Jamaica, my favorite island in the Caribbean. Its people are ultra-friendly and its adventures run the gamut, from playing golf to spotting crocodiles on a Black River safari.
Of all the trips I plan, my favorites are honeymoons, because it’s such a happy time for couples. No matter what their budget, they get excited when they talk about their first vacation as newlyweds, even when their dreams don’t completely match their budget. I’m forthright with all my clients, asking them a lot of questions about the things they’re looking for, whether it’s relaxation on the beach or an action-packed eco-adventure. Picky questions can help avoid disappointments later. For instance, a couple might tell me they want to go to Tahiti, but if nightlife is important to them, I’ll steer them to a different tropical destination that answers that need. It all comes down to learning what they’re looking for and putting all the pieces of the puzzle together to create their trip of a lifetime.
I have also earned my certification as a Beverly Clark (world renowned author) Travel Specialist. Through completion of this program, I am certified as an expert in destination weddings, honeymoon vacation travel, romantic getaways and luxury travel experiences.

Jamaica: Jamaica is hands-down my favorite Caribbean island destination. The people are wonderful and the laid-back attitude is perfect for a relaxing getaway. Adventures for every type of traveler abound on the island - pampering spas, great golf, sailing, snorkeling, hiking, even plying the waters of the Black River in search of crocodiles! If you go to Jamaica, you can't help feeling Irie!
St. Lucia: There is a great reason why Oprah named St. Lucia one of the top places to see in your lifetime. The beauty of the island is overwhelming - from the towering Pitons to the lush interior - St. Lucia is a sight to behold.

Dream Vacation Destination: Europe
When I’m traveling on my own, I take a completely different approach from the way I work with my clients. I like to wing it. Rather than create a set itinerary, I keep plans to a minimum based on the schedule of the flights I have booked. I venture off the beaten path, getting to know the locals and seeing things from an insider’s point of view. On my dream trip, I would take a year off and visit every continent except North America, with my backpack in tow. I’d probably start in Europe, since I don’t know it as well as other continents, carry a reliable map, and head out into the great unknown.
